Hydroponic PVC Pipes
What’s the meaning of hydroponic:
Hydroponics is a word-driven from two Greek words. Hydro means water while ponic is a word for hard labor. Hydroponics actually goes a long way back, since the ancient Egyptians and Aztecs were said to be familiar with the principles of growing plants in water enriched with nutrients.
What are hydroponic PVC systems:
Hydroponic PVC systems use the polyvinyl chloride(PVC) pipe that is commonly used for household waste plumbing. While there are other materials that can be used for a hydroponic system such as metal or plastic, PVC has become very popular among home gardeners because of its inherent advantages.
Advantages:
• Arguably the most glaring advantage offered by PVC is affordability.
• A hydroponics system based on metal or plastic can be very costly
• PVC is very easy to put up because of the low price of the material
• The PVC is efficient
• Pvc not toxic and soluble
• PVC can withstand harsh elements, and won't be a problem if taken indoors
Disadvantages :
• The tendency to cause contamination
• Plant roots can also get inside the PVC pipes (but it can be easily controlled)
